The Castle Inn
Hurst Bowling Club has had a long and historic association with the Castle Inn. Of course, in the 17th century the Castle Inn was known as Church House.
The bowling club’s logo, a bunch of grapes, was adopted when Church House became a pub and was named The Bunch of Grapes. The bowling club at that time was an integral part of that pub. Much later when the pub was renamed the Castle Inn, the bowling club kept its logo, thus maintaining its historic link.
Hurst Bowling Club is pleased to congratulate the Castle Inn’s new landlord, Matt Brown, on becoming proprietor of this important historic public house. His aim, he has said, is to let it become once more the hub of the community.
Matt has been very supportive of our community project and takes a keen interest in the sport. He has learned to bowl on our green and has encouraged our elderly visitors to participate.
We look forward to the evolution of a relationship that benefits the club, the Castle Inn and our community.
