AWRE

From junction 12 of the M4 take the A4 towards Newbury.  Turn left at roundabout onto the A340 towards Tadley.  Pass through the villages of Aldermaston Wharf and Aldermaston.  The entrance to AWRE is about two miles further on – first exit at a roundabout.

BRACKNELL

From the Met Office roundabout take the A3095 Bagshot road exit, this is Church Road.   Go past the college and take the 1st turning on the left past the Kerith Church.   Turn left into Tytherton, signposted Kerith Church and Bowls Club.   Park in club car park not in church car park.

 

BURGHFIELD

Leave M4 at Junction 11 and take the A33 Basingstoke road to the roundabout at 3 Mile Cross.   Take the Mortimer/Burghfield Road then 2nd right to Kirton’s Farm County Club and Pingewood.   Watch out for sharp bends and after approximately 1 mile, at Pingewood; continue on the road which goes over the M4.   Approximately 1 mile on there are traffic lights.   Keep on till T-junction and turn right then almost immediately first right onto a gravel road, following signs for Burghfield Bowls Club car park.   From 1st roundabout to Club is 3.8 miles.

 

CAVERSHAM

From Caversham Bridge bear left towards Woodcote.  After 100 metres turn right into St Annes Road.  Half way up the hill take first left into Clifton Park Road.  At odd crossroads go straight ahead into Albert Road.  After about half a mile pass Harrogate Road on your left.  The entrance to the car park is almost immediately to your left.

 

CIPPENHAM

Take M4 to Junction 7, Slough West. Then take the motorway spur to the roundabout on the A4.   Turn right towards Slough.   At the first crossroads (less than ½ mile with Hi-Q Tyres & Exhaust and Cheque Point Charlies on left-hand corner) turn left at traffic lights into Station Road.   Take the 2nd turning on the right marked Station Road Nos. 8 -12.   This leads into the bowls club car park.

 

DESBOROUGH

Take the A330 past Hawthorn Hill, Touchen End and Holyport over the M4 and take the second left off the roundabout on the A308 into Maidenhead. Keep on this road under the railway bridge then left at the traffic lights (one way) keeping to the right as you need to filter at the next traffic light into Broadway.  Keep to the left until the end and turn right into Park Street where Desborough B C is directly in front of you at the junction with York Road.

 

FARNBOROUGH GATE

From junction 4 of the M3 take the A331 towards Farnborough.  Pass under a bridge and almost immediately exit to slip road.  At the roundabout turn right (third exit).  At next roundabout take second exit (straight on).  At next roundabout take first exit onto the A325.  After a short distance take first left into ship lane and immediately left again into Ringwood Road.  The car park is at the end of this road.

 

FARLEY HILL

From Wokingham station take the Barkham and Arborfield road over the level crossing.   Follow this road for about 3 miles, passing Arborfield Garrison, until you reach a roundabout.   Take 2nd left off the roundabout signposted Farley Hill and Eversley.   After ½ mile you will pass The Fox and Hounds pub on the left, less than ½ mile farther on turn right into the car park of The Victory Hall Social and Bowling Club.

FLACKWELL HEATH

Leave the A404 northbound for the A4155 eastbound towards Little Marlow and Bourne End.  At roundabout turn left into Sheepridge Lane.  At and of this road (quite long) turn right into Heath End Road which soon becomes The Straight Bit.  Pass “The Common” on the left and the car park entrance soon follows (on the left). 

GREAT HOLLANDS

On A3095 from Bracknell to Crowthorne/Sandhurst turn right at roundabout into Nine Mile Ride, signposted B3430 Wokingham and Finchampstead.   After a short distance turn right, signposted Great Hollands Recreation Ground, also Crematorium and Golf Course.   Go past the car park with the recycling bins and the green is on the right, with its own car park. 

HARWELL

Leave the M4 at junction 13 and take the A34 towards Oxford.  Take the A417 towards Wantage.  After less than a mile turn right onto the B4493 Wantage Road.  Take first left to Westfield Road.  The car park is soon on the left.

HAWLEY

Join the A30 at the “Marks and Spencer” junction.  Head west and take the first left (Vicarage Road.)  Take the second on the right (Fernhill Road.)  Go straight across at the crossroad and then turn right into the side road leading to the Leisure Centre (Hawley Road.)  Turn left immediately before the Leisure Centre.  The car park is on the left.  Walk up from the car park alongside the sports field, with the tennis courts on your left.  The club gate is on the left near the top of the path.

HENLEY

From Twyford take A321 to Henley.   At T-junction with A423 Remenham Road turn left and go over the river bridge.   Immediately after bridge turn left and follow this road alongside the river.   As the road turns right towards the station, turn left into River Meadows Recreation Ground also Rowing Museum.   The green is on the left.   Park by the green.

ISLAND BOHEMIAN

Take the A329 to Reading and follow the inner distribution road towards Caversham. After passing under the railway bridge, turn left at the roundabout (still heading for Caversham -  now on A4155) and take first right into Brigham Road. Club has a limited cark park (15 cars) about 50 yards along on the left. Alternatively park in roads nearby – but beware parking restrictions. The club says that due to limited parking on south side many visitors cross over the river and park in Wolsey Road (after crossing bridge bear right into Church Street and bear right again into Gosbrook Road – Wolsey Road is 20 yards on the right). There is a ferry across to the island (from both banks).

MAIDEN ERLEGH

From Winnersh (Showcase Cinema) roundabout continue on A329 Reading Road towards Reading.   At Three Tuns traffic lights turn left into Wilderness Road B3350.   At the 3rd mini roundabout turn left into Beech Lane.   The green is on the left next to Whiteknights indoor bowling centre.

MAIDENHEAD THICKET

Take the A330 going past Hawthorn Hill, Touchen End and Holyport and then over the M4.  At the roundabout turn left onto the A308(M) and then right at the next roundabout onto the A404(M).  At the second junction turn left onto the A4 towards Reading.  The bowling club is about half a mile on the left at the Shire Horse Centre behind the pub of the same name.

PALMER PARK

From the A329M Suttons roundabout take the A4 London Road towards Reading.   Take 1st left, St Bartholomews Road. Turn left into Wokingham Road.   Turn left into the Stadium and park here.   Access to the Bowls Club is along the path from the ‘Lord Palmer’ statue and in the smaller gate around the front of the green, opposite the houses. NB different arrangements in place for 2011; the green is in the same place but entry is by the main gate and, hopefully, we will be signposted to the car park.

PANGBOURNE

Take M4 westwards and leave at Junction 12.   Take A4 towards Newbury, go straight on at 1st roundabout with Business Park on left and at the next roundabout take A340 to Pangbourne.   After about 1 ½ miles you will pass through Tidmarsh village:  continue into Pangbourne.   When you reach the mini roundabout with the Copper Kettle on the left, turn right and go a short distance to the George Hotel on the left.   Turn left here, go under the railway bridge and then take the first turning on the right into Thames Avenue.   Go to the end and turn left and almost immediately, there is a turning on the right marked Recreation Ground.   Follow this road into the car park.   The green is at the far end of the recreation ground.

PEPPARD

From Reading go through Caversham and leave on the B481 to Emmer Green.  Continue on this road to Sonning Common.  Look for Sedgewell Road on your left but do not take it; take the next left (Shiplake Bottom).  At the end turn right into Gallowstree Road.  The car park is almost immediately on your left.

PROSPECT PARK

The green is in Prospect Park.  Take the A4 (Bath Road) from Reading.  Ignore Liebenrood Road on your right and Circuit Lane on your left.  Take the next right (Honey End Lane) at the west end of the Park.  The entrance to the green is on the right opposite Cockney Hill – but there is no vehicular access so street parking is necessary.

READING UNIVERSITY

If approaching the Early crossroads (Three Tuns) from the Wokingham direction turn left into Wilderness Road.  At the first roundabout turn right into Whiteknights Road.  The Whiteknights entrance to the campus is almost immediately on the left.  The green was reached by taking the first turning on the right, but development work recently has altered the access.  In 2010 we had to take the second right and then turn right again.  Probably best to ask for the staff Social Club if you are lost or phone one of us on your mobile so we can talk you down. 

SHIPLAKE

From the centre of Twyford take High Street westwards to and through Charvil.  At the A4 roundabout go straight across towards Sonning (B478).  At the mini roundabout in Sonning carry straight on into Thames Street (still B478) and over the bridge.  At the second roundabout turn right onto the A4155 towards Henley.  Go through Shiplake and turn left into Memorial Avenue.  The car park and green are a little way down on the left.

STANWELL

Take junction 14 from the M25 to the A3113 towards the airport.  At the next roundabout take third exit (right) to the A3044.  Take first left to the B378, towards Stanwell.  Follow this road to a mini roundabout and go straight over into High Street.  Third on the left is Stanwell Close.  Take this turning, keep to the left and take first left into Lintott Court.  Parking spaces will be found at the end of this road.  Access to a footpath will be found at the end; this leads to the clubhouse and green.

STOKE POGES

Leave M4 at Junction 6, Slough central.   Take A355 Tuns Lane towards Slough and at the A4 traffic lights turn right.   After passing the park on your left, take first turning on the left at traffic lights into Stoke Poges Lane.   Follow this road and go straight on at the next traffic lights for 1 mile.   Stoke Poges Lane leads into Church Lane and the green is on the right in the grounds of the Polish Association.

SUTTONS

THATCHAM

From junction 11 of the M4 take first exit for the A33 towards Basingstoke.  At the next roundabout take the first exit for Three Mile Cross.  The turn to the Club is within a half mile on the left.  There is a sign but it is not easy to spot so go slowly!  If you reach Church lane on your left you have gone too far.

TILEHURST

From Reading take the Oxford Road (A329) towards Tilehurst.  At large roundabout take second exit (Overdown Rd) signposted “Tilehurst Village” and turn left immediately into Kentwood Hill.  Take 3rd right into Armour Hill.  Take 4th left into Wardle Lane.  Car park and green are on right at end of tarmac section of road.

From M4 leave at junction 11 and take A4 towards Reading.  Take the slip road onto the Old Bath Road and follow as it bears left into Langley Hill.  Follow this road for some distance; it becomes Park Lane after a mini roundabout.  After several junctions this road becomes School Road.  Look for Recreation Road on your right but do not take it.  At next crossroads turn left into Armour Road.  3rd right is Wardle Lane which is unmade at this end.  The car park and green are at the left near the end of the unmade section.

WALLINGFORD

Take the A4130 from Henley towards Wallingford, passing through Nettlebed and Crowmarsh Gifford before crossing the Thames into The Street, Wallingford which becomes High Street.  Go straight ahead at the crossroads (Castle Street to your right).  Proceed to a mini roundabout where you turn right into St Georges Road.  The green is in the park to the right.  Park wherever you can in St Georges Road, find the entrance to the park and be prepared for a bit of a trek over the grass to the green and clubhouse which are more or less directly in front of you.

WARGRAVE

From Twyford take the A321 towards Wargrave and Henley.   Cross the A4 and at the traffic lights in the centre of Wargrave turn right (the B477 to Upper Wargrave) into School Lane.    Take the 4th turning on the left, into Victoria Road, then 2nd turning on the right which is Recreation Road.   The car park is straight ahead of you.   Park here then walk along the edge of the recreation ground to the green at the far end.

WINDLESHAM

From Bracknell take the A322 towards Bagshot.   Continue on this road, past the turning for Windsor and Ascot then go about a mile, past the A30 turning and the long lay-by and turn left signposted Windlesham.   Go less than a mile to a T-junction, turn left into Church Road.   After ¼ mile at T-junction turn right into Kennel Lane, signposted Sunningdale and Chertsey.   The bowling club is less than ¼ mile on the left, behind the Theatre & Community Centre.

WINDSOR & ETON

Take the M4 east to Junction 6. Come off the M4 and at the roundabout take the third exit onto the A355, signposted Windsor. Continue ahead onto the A332, entering Windsor.  Branch left off this road and at the roundabout take the first exit into Maidenhead Road, signposted Windsor.  Follow this along (over traffic lights) until you come to a roundabout. Take first road exit left into Goswell Road (note;first exit from roundabout is into office block car park - you want first road exit left). Go under railway bridge and just after road bears sharp right turn right into public car park (entrance is between first house on your right and Brown Bros cafe). At end of short drive into car park turn right through gates into bowling club. Park on grass around club.

WINDSOR GREAT PARK

From Ascot take the A323 towards Windsor.  After passing the gate into the park take a right turn at the second set of automatic gates.  Follow this road over the crossroads and the car park is just after these on the right.

WOKINGHAM

Going on the Reading Road towards Wokingham town centre, go past the end of Holt Road.   The club is the 2nd turning on the left with a blue sign (the first is the Community Centre).   If coming from the opposite direction i.e. from the town centre, it is the turning after the Wokingham Masonic Centre.

WOODLEY

From Wokingham town centre take the A321 Sandhurst/Camberley Road.   After a mile bear right at Ford garage for Finchampstead and Eversley B3016.   After 2 miles at War Memorial turn right, then at Greyhound Pub turn left, marked B3272 Yateley.   Go to Eversley Cross (crossroads with cricket pitch on left) and turn left.   After about 1 mile you will see the green on the right hand side, but continue on the same road and a little further on turn right into car park for Tythings Community Centre and walk along the roadside footpath to green.
