Kulwant passes Level 3 Coaching Exam

Just to let you know that on Sunday 10th March Kulwant passed the Level 3 Coaching Exam. He was examined by Vic Waites, the Berkshire County Coach. Examination took 4 hours to complete, he demonstrated various excerises and clincial work. He is now allowed to coach at county level. Many Congratulations.

Skittles Evening 25th Feb 2012

The skittles evening has been arranged for Saturday 25th February at the Jack of Newbury Binfield at 7pm.

Cost will be £11 which includes a buffet, with a choice of  Chicken and Salad or Sausage and cheese with french bread,if you are vegetarian there is a Jacket potato with mushroom and stilton.

Just to remind you that Hurst BC AGM is on Sunday 27th Nov 2011 at St Pauls Parish Church Hall, Reading Road, Wokingham at 3pm.
Cheese and Wine will be served at Cost £4 per person, please send in your forms to Suzanne.

Suzanne has asked for help in setting up the Hall at 2:30pm and Washingup plus clearing at the end.

Hurst Bowling Club win MUL

September 23, 2011

On Saturday 17th September Hurst (Founded 1747) beat Henley 12-0 to become Manchester Unity League Champions for the first time in their history.  The score line suggests an easy victory but Henley fought hard and two rinks were decided only in the last one or two ends.

Hurst’s season started slowly with three defeats in the first four matches.  Once their form improved they were almost unstoppable, losing just one of the other fourteen matches and winning the rest.  Twenty three of the Cl...

Hurst Village and Country Horse Fair

As part of our recruitment drive, and to generate interest in the sport of bowls, Ronnie organised a stall at the Hurst Village Country and Horse Fair.

Barbara and Ronnie, with husbands in tow, were up at the village fair ground at 8 am on Sunday. It was a lovely morning and the Fair committee members were welcoming and helpful.  We dispatched our husbands so that they could prepare for the afternoon match.

Scout Cubs Visit (June 2011)

CUBS VISIT

The 5th Woodley Cubs visited us to be introduced to the sport of lawn bowls. It was not without its anxities as our hallowed green is unaccustomed to young ones running up and down it.

It was rewarding though to observe the talents of the youngsters. Both boys and girls showed a level of accuracy and an aptitude for the sport. Their exuberance though, left our senior members feeling quite exhausted and in need of refreshments after the youngsters’ parents had collected them.
